Former Tottenham Hotspur star Graham Roberts insists that he would rather the club signed centre-back Lewis Dunk than Joachim Andersen this summer.
Spurs have been heavily linked with a swoop to bring Andersen to the club after his loan spell at Fulham.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Spurs are interested in a deal to sign the Lyon defender, and that his preference is to remain in the Premier League.
Would you take Lewis Dunk at Spurs?
Yes
No
Andersen made a total of 31 appearances in the top-flight as Fulham were relegated, scoring once, but Roberts believes that Brighton & Hove Albion defender Dunk would be a better signing.
Dunk has also been linked with the club and he is a vastly experienced defender, making 143 top-flight appearances, and is the captain of the Seagulls.
In the 2020/21 season, he made 33 appearances and scored five goals as Brighton retained their Premier League status.
It remains to be seen how expensive the 29-year-old would be, given that he has a lengthy contract at the AMEX Stadium that runs until 2025, and is valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt. Andersen, by comparison, is valued at £19.8m.
Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, Roberts was asked about whether he would prefer Dunk over Andersen and replied: “Yeah I would. He’s had more experience in the Premier League, he’s a strong, powerful lad, I would do, definitely.”
