Real Madrid have reportedly expressed an interest in Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho, after his stunning breakthrough into the first team this season.
The Madrid-born Argentinian joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and has broken into Erik ten Hag’s squad after a few stunning performances which includes a 93rd-minute winner against Fulham in United’s last game before the World Cup break.
The winger has two goals and two assists in ten senior appearances for the senior side, and is quickly establishing himself as an option ahead of £73m signing Jadon Sancho.
His early form has put Real Madrid on alert, as they remain attentive to his situation, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
A report from Relevo has claimed that given his contract situation, and his attachment to the city of Madrid, Los Blancos will continue to monitor him as the player and club like each other.
“Garnacho is a name that already resonates on the table,” the report stated.
“Garnacho has not yet signed, and Madrid, very pending, moves to enter into the operation. Real Madrid and Garnacho like each other. But it is not the only club on the list.”
TIF Thoughts on Garnacho…
Given that he is currently United’s brightest young prospect, who is already trusted by Ten Hag, it is highly likely the Dutchman will want to keep the youngster at Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, his Madrid links will mean that Real are never off his trail, and it could be a link to keep an eye on in the future should he succeed.
Garnacho himself is better off staying put, where the fans adore him and where he can gain regular game time under Ten Hag.
Should he move to the Santiago Bernabeu now, the 18-year-old will have much more competition for minutes with the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, and it would not be a good move right now.
