Everton are reportedly working on a transfer deal to sign Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma this month.
After scoring 17 goals and delivering eight assists in 52 appearances for Bournemouth, the Dutchman joined his current club back in the 2021 summer transfer window.
Since then, the 25-year-old has found the net 22 times in 51 appearances for the Spanish club, taking his career total of club goals to 73.
His goalscoring efforts in Spain have subsequently led him to being linked with a move back to England.
According to a recent report from journalist Bruno Alemany, Everton are negotiating with Villarreal over a move for Danjuma that would see the striker join the Toffees on a loan deal that has the option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.
With 17 appearances to his name across all competitions this season, Danjuma, who believes he’s ‘among the best wingers in the world’, has scored six goals but only started 10 games.
Given his lack of regular starts this season, this could be why Everton think taking him on loan could be an ideal move for all parties.
The previous La Liga campaign saw the former Bournemouth star, who has been lauded as an “exceptional” player in the past by Jonathan Woodgate, end the season with more shots at goal (59) and more shots on target (25) than any other player at Villarreal.
Would you be happy to see Everton sign Danjuma?
Yes
No
Having previously been linked with a move to the Toffees’ Merseyside rivals Liverpool, Danjuma’s attacking presence could be vital for Frank Lampard’s side and their hopes of avoiding getting relegated to the Championship. During this time he was worth around £44m, but it remains to be seen as to how much he may cost the Toffees this time round.
Taking into account how only two clubs have registered fewer shots at goal than Everton (180) this season, it’s easy to see why they’re looking at a player like the Villarreal attacker who has shown how much of a nuisance he can be for opposition goalkeepers.
Moving forward, if Everton are able to bring Danjuma to Goodison Park this month and he’s able to be a regular goalscorer for the Toffees, this could be a massive positive for everyone at the club.
