Rob Dorsett has admitted live on Sky Sports that Rangers transfer target Tom Davies is available to sign this window.
Michael Beale has made no secret that he’s looking to sign some new players this month as he attempts to bridge the gap between Rangers and their bitter league rivals.
The Gers are still a huge nine points off the top of the SPFL table and have been tipped with a move for Davies, who’s fallen out of favour over the last 18 months at Everton and would have a lot to prove.
Davies has only been able to start six league games for the Toffees since the start of last season and would therefore be a potential risk for the Gers to take on, although given the league appears to be out of reach, it could a gamble worth taking.
Dorsett has admitted that Gers target Davies is one of a number of players Everton are open to selling in what could be a huge transfer boost for Rangers.
He said: “They want to sell fringe players rather than loan them.
“Tom Davies – again, Everton would be prepared to sell him. He’s only got six months left on his current deal, but they want money; they want cash – no point in giving him a loan deal.”
Dorsett went on to say that the Englishman would be ‘available at the right price’.
Given that Davies can barely get a start for a struggling Everton side that are simply looking to stay up in the Premier League this term, this perhaps wouldn’t exactly strike confidence or excitement within the Rangers fanbase if he was to be signed.
However, they did indeed sign John Lundstram from Sheffield United after they struggled during their second top-flight campaign in England, and he’s managed to nail down a fairly regular spot within the Gers’ side, so there is potential to strike up smart deals.
Also, because Davies could be available for a minimal fee given his contractual situation, the Rangers’ board may see enough reason to give the deal the green light and get him signed, let him gel with the group during the second half of the season and hit the ground running next campaign.
