Wolverhampton Wanderers are not interested in signing Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, according to reliable reporter Steve Madeley.

It was reported by Spanish sources that Wolves had made an offer to sign Jackson on an initial loan deal, with it being claimed that there had been interest from the Old Gold for a while.

However, not only has it now been reported that the Wanderers are not interested in signing the 21-year-old, but the same source claims that his current club will only let him leave on a permanent transfer, rather than on loan.

Taking to Twitter to clear the rumours up after Wolves were named as potential suitors, Madeley said:

“Seen one or two things linking Wolves with Nicholas Jackson of Villarreal. I’m told he’s not a target.”

TIF thoughts on Jackson to Wolves…

In many ways, it is disappointing that the interest from Julen Lopetegui’s side does not appear to be concrete, as the manager could definitely do with some more options in attack, given that only two of his players are on more than one Premier League goal.

Lauded as ‘exciting’ by journalist Josh Bunting, Jackson has two goals and two assists to his name in La Liga this season, and it has been a real breakthrough season for him at the age of 21, so he still has a lot of time to develop as he becomes more accustomed to first-team football.

The Mirror recently reported that Danny Ings is an option for Wolves, and perhaps he could be a better short-term option, given that he has experience in the Premier League, but the Villarreal man is definitely one for the future and looks a positive addition should Lopetegui become more interested.
