Fabrizio Romano has said to ‘keep an eye on’ a potential Manchester United pursuit on a right-back should they sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The defender has been reportedly linked with a departure for a number of months, but the Daily Mail has recently claimed the Red Devils now want to keep hold of him this January.

He’s had a relatively lacklustre spell since making the move to Old Trafford, as with each passing season, the 25-year-old has seen his league minutes decrease in a Man United shirt.

Wan-Bissaka has played the last four Premier League games in the absence of Diogo Dalot, but only featured in the league once prior to that this season in a brief cameo against Liverpool in August.

In all competitions, the right-back has one assist to his name, which he picked up in their League Cup victory against Burnley.

Speaking to The United Stand, Romano said that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace ‘remain interested” in Wan-Bissaka, but Man United are ‘no longer in a hurry’ to sell him. This will all depend on if it’s the ‘right proposal’ from a Red Devils perspective.

He stated: “I think the only situation to keep an eye on in the next days is the right-back.

“Man United are no longer in a hurry to let him leave. Wolves and Crystal Palace remain interested, but at the moment again for Man United, it has to be the right proposal. Otherwise, the situation could be different, and so, let’s see this right-back situation and how it will evolve, but for sure, this is the potential signing in case something happens.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We believe that a move away for Wan-Bissaka in January looks very unlikely, especially with Dalot out injured at the moment.

The only scenario where a move away from Old Trafford could occur would be if the offer for the player was at a price that Man United simply couldn’t turn down.

They could then use the cash from that deal to pursue another right-back option to compete with Dalot, who has 14 league appearances to his name this season.

In many ways, it’s very bittersweet for Wan-Bissaka, as he is currently getting minutes under Erik ten Hag, but it appears as though he’ll be dropped once again once Dalot returns – though his performances of late may be giving the Dutchman something to think about.

He may have to wait until the summer to secure a move away and get more consistent first-team minutes if he is unable to dislodge the Portuguese from the starting XI.
