Barry Bannan took to Twitter last night to praise Tom Rogic’s display in West Bromwich Albion’s recent win in the Championship.
West Brom’s form picked up from where they left off before the World Cup break as goals from Rogic and Daryl Dike saw them come from behind to win 2-1 on Wearside.
It now makes it four wins in a row for the Baggies, who have hit form under Carlos Corberan as they finally look to leave a relegation tussle behind and look up towards the crowded battle for the top half and the play-offs.
West Brom fell behind to an Amad Diallo penalty against Sunderland before Australian midfielder Rogic eventually levelled with 20 minutes to go after seeing a strike from distance tipped over the bar only minutes earlier.
His finish was certainly worth the wait, as a beautiful left-footed outside-of-the-boot shot curled perfectly around the on-rushing Black Cats defenders to nestle into the bottom corner.
And his overall performance caught the eye of Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Bannan, who took to Twitter to laud the 29-year-old’s performance along with Tony Watt.
He tweeted: “Tom Rogic lovely player to watch, wasted in the Champ.”
Watt, a former Celtic teammate of Rogic’s, was also drooling over his assured display, with Bannan adding:
“Some player 2nd gear, don’t know how he is there.”
TIF Thoughts on Bannan’s comments…
Rogic has found game time limited this season in the Midlands, with only one Championship start all season, where he only played 57 minutes.
He was once again called on from the bench and delivered his first goal of the season in some style to set the Baggies on their way to victory after previously assisting Okay Yokuslu’s late winner in Corberan’s first win and the catalyst for West Brom’s run last month.
The 29-year-old may well be making himself the Spaniard’s go-to man, and if the Baggies are to continue their run of form, his moments of magic may well be called upon again.
