Aston Villa are reportedly one of the clubs looking to secure a transfer deal for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram.
The recent January transfer window saw Unai Emery bring a new attacking talent to his squad in the shape of Jhon Duran.
Now though, looking ahead to the next summer window, it has been revealed that the Midlands club already have their eyes on bringing another attacking figure to Villa Park, but face stiff competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to a recent report from Spanish media outlet Sport, Villa are one of the clubs across Europe in the mix to sign Thuram, who is set to see his contract with Monchengladbach expire in the summer.
The report also lists Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Barcelona with an interest in the striker.
After scoring 17 goals in 72 appearances for his previous club EA Guingamp, Thuram joined Monchengladbach during the 2019 summer transfer window.
Since then, the 25-year-old has gone on to make 122 appearances for the German club across all competitions, finding the net 41 times and delivering 26 assists along the way.

His efforts in the Bundesliga this season have seen the striker show how much of an attacking threat he is and why he has half of Europe eyeing him up.
For example, with 10 goals in 18 league appearances, the France international has had more shots at goal (61) and more shots on target (31) than any other player in the division.
This makes it easy to see why he has previously been labelled as a “world class striker” by Wolfsburg’s sporting director Marcel Schafer.
Even though Villa now have Ollie Watkins and Duran as their main centre-forwards, if they are able to land a deal for Thuram in the summer, he certainly has what it takes to become Emery’s main attacking figure given his clear knack of scoring goals and being a consistent goal threat.
