Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Atletico Madrid defender Felipe.
This latest January transfer window has already seen the Midlands club bring in the likes of Danilo, Gustavo Scarpa and Chris Wood to help strengthen Steve Cooper’s side.
Now that deadline day has arrived, the Reds look set to welcome another player to their squad.
According to a recent post in Sky Sports’ live transfer centre, Forest have reached an agreement with Atletico that will see Felipe travel to the UK today and have a medical before completing his move to the club.
The post also adds that the Premier League side managed to beat German club Bayer Leverkusen to the defender’s signature.
Prior to joining Atletico back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the centre-back made 142 appearances for Porto, scoring 11 goals and delivering six assists along the way.
During his time in Spain, the Brazilian made 113 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and winning one La Liga title.

This season has seen the centre-back make just four appearances for Diego Simeone’s side across La Liga and the Champions League, which makes us feel that a move to the Premier League where he may be able to play regularly would be an exciting next step for him.
At the age of 33, Felipe, who has been hailed in the past for his “superb” performances for Atletico by journalist Simon Evans, would certainly offer Forest a significant amount of top-level experience to their defence.
Bearing in mind how only Bournemouth (42) have conceded more goals in the Premier League this season than the Reds (35), it’s easy to see why they have brought in someone like the Brazilian to help strengthen their defence.
Moving forward, with the rest of the campaign in mind, if Felipe can become a regular figure in the team from now until the end of the season and help the club avoid relegation, this signing would surely be seen as a very smart one from Forest.
