Leeds United are now intent on keeping Cody Drameh at Elland Road, having previously been open to allowing him to leave in January.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has been providing the latest on the right-back’s future on the latest Here We Go podcast.

It had been suggested that the 21-year-old could depart in the upcoming January transfer window with a number of clubs said to be tracking his status in West Yorkshire.

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

Drameh has now been able to claim a consistent starting spot in Jesse Marsch’s XI having only made one appearance in the Premier League this season (via Transfermarkt).

However, it now seems as if those at Leeds have made a U-turn and are now looking to tie him down to extend his current deal, which is set to expire in 2024.

Romano said: “Cody Drameh is an important asset for Leeds. This is why Jesse Marsch is now playing the player, because he wants to keep him with a new contract. So let’s see if Leeds will be able to keep the player.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

With the January transfer window on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if this means Drameh will start on Wednesday against Manchester City.

Do you expect Drameh to stay at Leeds?

Having not really featured for the Whites this season so far, it will surely take a dramatic change in Marsch’s handling of the player to convince Drameh that Leeds is the right place for him.

With the likes of Borussia Dortmund credited with an interest, it will also be interesting to see if this move from Leeds is too late, with the 21-year-old’s head potentially turned by interest from such a big European side.
