Presenter and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has slammed the most recent rumours linking Leeds United with a possible January sale of Cody Drameh.
With the winter market fast approaching, a number of Premier League sides such as the Whites will likely be keen on adding reinforcements to their ranks.
However, January is also an opportunity to sell players who want to leave. Drameh might be one such individual, and according to Phil Hay of The Athletic, Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley is a possible destination if Leeds are willing to let him depart.
But while talking about the latest rumours on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan said he just couldn’t understand why a winter sale would be sanctioned.
He said: “This is an incredible one.
“Obviously, we’ve heard about Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, but I presume Cody Drameh wants minutes instantly.
“So you are going to get Burnley, who are going to get promoted next season, and if we keep going the way we’re going, there’s a likelihood, a big likelihood Leeds get relegated.
“So there’s a chance that, still, Cody Drameh is going to be playing in the Premier League ahead of Leeds United. I just don’t understand this.”
TIF Thoughts on Cody Drameh and Leeds…
In that article by The Athletic, it’s claimed that manager Jesse Marsch has ‘depth in that area’ as Rasmus Kristensen and Luke Ayling can both play at right-back.
And they both seem to be more favoured for the role at the moment having played far more this season than Drameh, who has seen just 160 minutes of action at senior level in all competitions.
However, if clubs such as Burnley view him as good enough to play in the Premier League in the near future – while Borussia Dortmund, Lille, Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United have all been linked – it does pose the question as to why he can’t break through at Leeds.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this one develops, and if Drameh does leave, he may well establish himself as a decent player in England’s top flight.
