Journalist Pete O’Rourke has hinted that new Rangers boss Michael Beale could address his midfield options in the January window.
It will be Beale’s first chance to enhance his squad having succeeded Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Ibrox dugout last month.
At 27, Glen Kamara is arguably the youngest senior midfield option the manager has at his disposal.
Meanwhile, amid speculation surrounding his future at the club, and with Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis all out of contract in the summer, the Light Blues’ engine room is in dire need of a refresh.
Sporting director Ross Wilson has assured the 42-year-old coach that there is money to spend this winter, and O’Rourke feels he will focus on the midfield.
He told GiveMeSport: “I think Rangers and Michael Beale will be looking to improve the squad following his return to Ibrox.
“The midfield has been an area of concern for Rangers this season. Steven Davis isn’t getting any younger, there’s doubts over Glen Kamara’s long-term future as well.”

Will Michael Beale succeed at Rangers?
Yes!
No!
During the summer, the Bears were reportedly keen on signing Standard Liege enforcer Nicolas Raskin.
The 21-year-old has been described as a ‘pitbull‘ for his work rate by journalist Bob Faesen, but it seems that Beale may have identified his own target.
Football Insider has claimed that Josh Onomah of Fulham will be targeted in January, with the Whites midfielder having also been the subject of interest from QPR during the Gers manager’s stint in west London.
However, the same source suggests that Rangers would face competition from a raft of clubs down south for his signature, so it remains to be seen who the club are able to bring in and improve in an area that is quite evidently in need of a revamp.
