Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott was withdrawn from the pitch with what appeared to be a concerning injury, but Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the player is fine.

The Reds lost to Lyon in their mid-season friendly in Dubai, and the teenager came off in the first half and headed straight down the tunnel.

In a season where the likes of Naby Keita and Thiago have suffered a number of injury problems, it was a worrying sight to see yet another player hurt, but Klopp was quick to allay any fears.

Liverpool were beaten 3-1, with former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette scoring twice, in a game played to keep the club’s stars who did not go to the World Cup fresh.

Speaking to journalists after the game, Klopp confirmed that Elliott was not set to miss any games.

“Harvey got a knock before we scored. I think we were lucky. He feels fine,” he stated.

TIF Thoughts on Liverpool…

Although they will be happy to see Naby Keita return to the side, having not played since the Community Shield in August, the club have been dealt another blow with Luis Diaz suffering a significant setback in his recovery from injury.

Elliott picking up another injury would have been a disaster given the absence of Diaz, so this news will come as a huge relief to Liverpool fans.

The versatile midfielder has scored three goals in 22 appearances this season and is going from strength to strength as he continues his development in the first team.

Liverpool have one more mid-season friendly before the Premier League resumes, against AC Milan, and they will be hoping that all of their players come through unscathed.
