Journalist Dean Jones believes that Tottenham Hotspur having to replace Harry Kane with Richarlison wouldn’t be the ‘end of the world’.

Spurs’ talisman has been persistently linked with a move away from north London.

At the end of November, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg said that Bayern Munich were working on a deal to sign the 29-year-old.

He anticipates that any such transfer would require €100m (£85.7m) to carry out, but Jones doesn’t think a Kane departure would have much effect on the Spurs side.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “Obviously, keeping Kane remains a matter of huge importance and they want it to happen, but if he was to leave and you can slightly alter the side to suit Richarlison, it certainly doesn’t feel like the end of the world.

“You just rely on Brazil’s No.9 instead of England’s No.9.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Would you say Richarlison is currently world class?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Richarlison certainly proved his ability to lead the line on the biggest stage despite Brazil’s untimely exit from the World Cup in Qatar.

He scored three times in four appearances for the Selecao, taking him to a tally of 10 goals in as many games in 2022.

With a run of games at the top end of the pitch for Spurs, it could be possible that the £60m summer arrival could replicate that level of form at club level.

However, with 261 Tottenham goals – just five short of Jimmy Greaves’ club record – there is no denying Kane’s absence would be felt and extremely hard to resolve.
