Aston Villa reportedly hold a concrete interest in Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo.
Unai Emery has bolstered his squad this month by bringing in full-back Alex Moreno, while an agreement has been reached for Chicago Fire forward Jhon Duran.
A new midfielder also appears to be on the radar for NSWE, with plenty of speculation surrounding possible moves for Matteo Guendouzi and Weston McKennie.
However, it looks as if Parejo, who has been described by journalist Josh Bunting as a player who ‘oozes class’, is also of interest at Villa Park.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb shared a transfer story on Monday night, focusing on Juventus midfielder McKennie. The report states that Villa chiefs want to sign a new midfielder, adding that attempts for Parejo are ‘concrete’.
TIF thoughts on possible Parejo move…
Parejo is 33 years of age and is primarily a central midfielder who can play in defensive or advanced midfield roles if required.
The Spaniard has made 145 appearances under Emery for both Valencia and Villarreal, more than any other manager under whom he has under during his 649-match career.
Parejo is still one of Villarreal’s top performers this season as per WhoScored metrics, averaging a better match rating than any player for Aston Villa in 2022/23.
He has gained plenty of experience over the years and even had a brief stint in England with QPR back in 2008, so another reunion with Emery could be a wise move by Villa.
