Journalist Rudy Galetti has said that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ‘wants one more striker’ amid rumours of a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.

The Red Devils have bolstered their attacking ranks this month with the loan signing of Wout Weghorst. The Dutch striker has joined on loan until the end of the season, although there isn’t an option to make that move permanent in the summer.

You’d expect that Weghorst will rival Anthony Martial in attack, but it looks as if Ten Hag is keen on adding another centre-forward, with Thuram linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Galetti said that the United manager wants another forward in and name-checked the Frenchman, saying ‘let’s see’ when it comes to a possible January or summer move.

The journalist stated: “For sure, Ten Hag wants one more striker. Marcus Thuram, let’s see if they want to make a move already in January, or if they will wait for the summer.”

TIF thoughts on possible Thuram move…

Reports around the New Year period hinted that Thuram is dreaming of a move to Old Trafford, so a swoop for him could be a very shrewd one by United officials.

The Frenchman has been in fine form this season, contributing to 17 goals in 17 games in all competitions, and he is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

The 25-year-old is primarily a centre-forward but can also play out wide, so he may well fit the bill in Manchester, and he could be available for a cut-price fee this month due to his contract situation.

Waiting until the summer could be a risk, although United will be able to discuss pre-contract agreement terms between now and June, provided that his situation remains the same.
