Transfer expert Dean Jones has put a stop to any talk of Arsenal signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month.
The Gunners are clearly in the market for a new attacker this month to hand Mikel Arteta more depth as they look to win their first Premier League title since 2004, which is a real possibility given their commanding lead at the top of the table.
Arsenal would have been very hopeful of landing Mykhailo Mudryk this time last week, but fast-forward a couple of days and they could only watch on as he was unveiled in front of the Chelsea fans.
However, Arsenal don’t seem to be wasting time, as they’ve reportedly made contact over a move for Moussa Diaby and could make another ambitious move by going for Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaratskhelia has been a standout star in Serie A with 16 goal involvements this term, but Jones has admitted on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that the Georgian won’t be leaving Napoli after being asked about the winger last night.
Will Arsenal sign a new attacker?
Yes!
No!
Jones said: “He is crazy good.
“He’s just not going to leave Napoli right now, they’re on course to win Serie A. There is no chance that he’s going to leave.”
TIF Thoughts on Kvaratskhelia…
It was reported not too long ago that high-flying Newcastle United were interested in Kvaratskhelia, but his price tag, which is said to be over the £100m mark, is likely to have put many clubs off.
Arsenal were unwilling to go as bullish as Chelsea in their pursuit of Mudryk, so it would be a huge shock if they were to splash out huge money on Kvaratskhelia, although he has been tested in a more challenging league than Mudryk has been.
With the Georgian winger enjoying a stunning season with Napoli having registered 21 goal involvements across all competitions and with the Italian side now sitting very comfortably at the top of the Serie A table, it would be crazy for him to leave a club that’s handed him his big break before potentially lifting the title.
