Journalist Alasdair Gold has noted that Cristian Romero put in a ‘two-footed’ tackle on Tottenham Hotspur teammate Matt Doherty during a recent training session.

After a solid start to the new Premier League season, Antonio Conte’s side find themselves third in the league, but have had less success in Europe at this stage.

Indeed, they have won one, drawn one, and lost one of their first three Champions League games so far, and will hope to get back to winning ways against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night (via Transfermarkt).

In preparation for the game, the club have been training as usual, and while watching a recent session, Gold spotted a potentially worrying Tottenham incident as Romero went flying into a tackle on Doherty.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Gareth Bale

Indeed, in a tweet shared alongside some footage, he noted: “The Spurs players weren’t holding back in the early rondo in training.

“Spot that little Cristian Romero moment with Clement Lenglet at the end with a cheeky two-footed jump in. Perisic, Dier, Richarlison, Lucas all flying into tackles. Dier almost caught Bryan Gil with one.”

He later added that it was Doherty and not Lenglet, saying: “Scratch that. It’s actually Romero on Matt Doherty. The goatee threw me.”

TIF Thoughts on Cristian Romero and Spurs…

While Romero’s tackle wasn’t out of control and no damage was caused, it wouldn’t be the first time his committed style may have landed him in some trouble.

Indeed, the centre-back was lucky to avoid punishment earlier this season after he pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair in the club’s draw against Chelsea – and it appears his hot-headedness is not only reserved for matches.

Even so, fans may well be glad to see all their players working hard and showing real desire in this latest training session. After a slow start to their Champions League campaign, which sees them currently second in Group D and level on points with third-placed Frankfurt, they will need to be at their fiery best in this upcoming match.

There’s just something about Argentinian Players that the give 100% whether it’s practice OR for real. Look at Lamela for example, he caused more injuries to our players than anyone else in the league!
