Pete O’Rourke has suggested that long-term admirers Leeds United could make a move for Adama Traore this summer.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger endured a mixed spell on loan at Barcelona, and didn’t do enough to earn a permanent move. The winger started well – offering to the Catalan giants something fresh. But, similar to the first-half of the season at Wolves, he soon ran out of ideas.
Now, with his contract set to expire on June 30, Leeds United could make their move, according to O’Rourke, who told GiveMeSport: “Victor Orta, the Leeds United head of recruitment, is a huge fan of Adama Traore having previously worked with him at Middlesbrough and has been chasing him for a long time, so it’s a deal that he will definitely try and push over the line.”
The Spaniard would certainly add something different to the side at Elland Road; something that perhaps Daniel James and others can’t offer. Such is their counter-attacking style, too, Traore, logic suggests, would thrive under Jesse Marsch.
TIF Thoughts on Adama Traore…
Traore certainly has talent. Not many can doubt that. The issue in his game is consistency – just look at his time at Barcelona as an example. Following what turned out to be an underwhelming stint in Spain, the winger may be keen to stay in the Premier League, too, where he has proved to be a handful for defenders, at times.
Considering the fact that he’d be entering as a free agent, too, makes any deal risk free for those interested. As admirers of the Wolves man, Leeds may just be first in line. They’ve already had a busy summer, welcoming Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, and Marc Roca, as well as reportedly potentially bidding farewell to Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
If the Yorkshire club do end up losing Raphinha, then signing a replacement winger will be a top priority.
Absolute show pony
My head is spinning, why the he’ll would we buy Traore who has proven he is not good enough for the premiership. Another James very fast but no end product. We sell our best players for peanuts (yes really) then go out and buy from the championship and second rate European clubs (at top prices) with a manager who I have very little to no confidence in. I really can’t work out our game plan (if we even have one) does our future consist of parachute payments, tax reduction, monopoly, desperation for funding to expand and modernize Elland road or is it after last season just pure panic and desperation with no plan. Anybody have any decent input….
