Transfer insider Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham United could soon receive a bid for midfielder Declan Rice.
According to a recent report in 90min, the Hammers had turned down a bid from Chelsea – with the Premier League club keen to stick to their £150m valuation of the player.
However, Jones has disputed that claim, saying he isn’t convinced any transfer offer has come in just yet. Though he did claim that there is seemingly ‘something going on’.
While talking in The Done Deal Show, he said (25:00): “I’m not convinced that an actual bid has gone in for Declan Rice.
“I’m not convinced that this is happening right here and now, but something is going on.
“It’s been, I say the last two weeks, I’ve heard this a few times now: ‘Look out for Chelsea, they are going back for Rice’.”
With that in mind, it certainly would make sense for Jones to be hearing rumours about a possible attempt to sign the player from the Hammers in the near future.
Of course, those who follow West Ham may well be concerned by all this talk of their key player leaving. However, it may be of some consolation to hear the transfer insider refute claims that a bid from Chelsea had already been made – this could change shorty though.
