West Ham United have reportedly made a bid to sign FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi.
Last week, it was reported that while the east London club are interested in signing the striker, his apparent price tag of £25m is beyond their budget for the January transfer window.
Now though, the Hammers have dismissed any potential financial concerns over a possible swoop for the 23-year-old.
According to a recent Twitter post from journalist Santi Aouna, West Ham have made an offer worth €30m (£26m) including bonuses to sign Moffi.
Back in October 2020, Moffi joined Lorient from Belgian side KV Kortrijk and has since gone on to score 35 goals in 90 appearances for his current club across all competitions, chipping in with seven assists along the way as well.
This season has seen the centre-forward make a name for himself in Europe and show how much of a deadly attacking figure he is.
Specifically, with 18 Ligue 1 appearances to his name, Moffi has found the net 12 times, with four scored across his last six games.
Would you be happy to see West Ham sign Moffi?
Yes
No
Described as a ‘very high-level’ player by former boss Christophe Pelissier, the Lorient star has also racked up the second-highest rate of shots per goal (0.33) in the division this season, further highlighting his attacking prowess.
Bearing in mind how West Ham have the lowest percentage of shots on target (25.4%) in the Premier League this season, it’s easy to see why they’re looking to secure the services of someone like Moffi, who has shown how capable he is of scoring goals.
Also, with Michail Antonio set to enter the final year of his contract at the end of the current season, the Lorient hitman could be an ideal long-term heir for the 32-year-old if he were to leave the London Stadium once his contract expires.
Moving forward, if the Hammers are able to secure a deal for Moffi this month, this would be a great way for David Moyes to add a much-needed attacking spark to his side.
