Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made contact with Luis Enrique over potentially replacing Antonio Conte in the dugout at the north London club.

The Italian is reportedly on the brink of getting sacked after he openly criticised the Spurs players and ownership in his latest press conference.

With the Lilywhites potentially being on the lookout for a new head coach, it has been claimed that they have already approached one possible candidate.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Gareth Bale

Speaking to Radio Radio as relayed by CalcioMercatoWeb (via Sport Witness), journalist Tony Damascelli said this on the matter:

“I know that Luis Enrique has already been contacted, there is a good possibility that he will go to England.”

The 52-year-old, who is currently unemployed after leaving his role as Spain’s head coach back in December, enjoyed a very successful period in charge of Barcelona between 2014 and 2017.

Specifically, across his 181 games with the Spanish club, Enrique picked up 138 wins, 22 draws and 21 defeats, winning numerous trophies including two La Liga titles and the Champions League.

In addition to that, the manager also secured a World’s Best Club Coach award at the end of the 2014/15 season.

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why the north London club apparently have their eyes on the former Barcelona manager and why they have apparently made contact with him.

As a proven winner, we feel that it would make sense for Spurs and Daniel Levy to hire Enrique. However, having hired proven winners previously such as Jose Mourinho and Conte, an impressive pedigree doesn’t necessarily make a manager the right candidate.

With all of that in mind, if Tottenham are likely to sack Conte in the near future, they’ll have to make sure they get the right person in who could take the team forward and get them some silverware.
