With 18 Premier League games played, Arsenal have won 15 of them, drawing twice and losing just one in the process.

That one defeat came back in September where the Gunners lost 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

One player that caused nightmares for Arsenal’s backline on the day was Marcus Rashford, who scored two of United’s three goals that led to Mikel Arteta’s side leaving Manchester with no points.

The Englishman has been in inspired form this season as he’s been able to fid the net 16 times and deliver six assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

This current January transfer window has not only seen Arsenal miss out on signing Mykhaylo Mudryk, but they’ve also seen any hope they might’ve had in signing Raphinha from Barcelona quickly shut down.

Should Arteta want to add a new attacking figure to his side before the end of the month, one figure that the Gunners have been linked with that could be their own version of Rashford is Moussa Diaby.

Where did Arsenal sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Having scored 43 goals and supplied 41 assists in 146 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, this highlights how dangerous he is in front of goal from the winger in a similar fashion to Rashford.

However, their current individual domestic seasons have shown how similar the two players are and why Diaby could be Arsenal’s own version of Rashford.

Would you like to see Arsenal sign a winger this month?

No

Specifically, the duo have racked up a very similar amount of shots on target (18 vs 20), passes into the 18-yard box (21 vs 22), successful dribbles (19 vs 22) and combined total of tackles and interceptions (13 vs 14).

This highlights how alike the two wingers are in terms of their attacking prowess and the effort they put in off the ball.

It also backs up why Diaby has been described by Nils Petersen as a “dangerous” player on the pitch and why he has previously seen a rather hefty price tag of £59m put on him.

Taking all of this into account, if Arteta wants to add a new winger to his squad and forget about Mudryk and Raphinha, securing a move for the Leverkusen star could be the best way to do that.
