Everton are reportedly exploring a potential transfer deal for free agent Andre Ayew.
After joining Qatari side Al-Sadd SC back in the 2021 summer transfer window from Swansea City, the 33-year-old recently left the club and is now a free agent.
During his time in Qatar, Ayew found the net 22 times in 39 appearances, highlighting his attacking prowess in front of goal.
Having spent time with Swansea and West Ham United, the Ghanaian now could be facing a potential return to England.
According to a recent report from Football Insider, Everton are in touch with Ayew’s camp as they look at a potential free transfer for the attacker.
With the Toffees missing out on bringing in players such as Arnaut Danjuma, Paul Onuachu and Kamaldeen Sulemana during the recent January transfer window, it’s understandable why they are looking to bring in an attacking figure like Ayew.
Also, with Anthony Gordon leaving Goodison Park for a move to Newcastle United in recent days, this further highlights Everton’s need to add an extra attacker to their squad.
Would you be happy to see Everton sign Andre Ayew?
Yes
No
In 527 club appearances throughout his career, Ayew has found the net 153 times and delivered 58 assists, with 21 of those goals coming in 89 Premier League matches.
The former West Ham figure has also shown his versatility by playing across a variety of attacking and midfield positions throughout his career, which shows how useful he could be for Sean Dyche as a squad option.
Back in July 2020, one of the winger’s goals for Swansea was described as “stunning” by journalist Ian Mitchelmore, proving the attacking talent he has and why he’d potentially be an important signing for Everton.
Bearing in mind how the Toffees have the joint-second lowest rate of shots per game (9.85) in the Premier League this season, if Ayew is able to use his vast experience and help Dyche’s side be a deadlier attacking threat, this could give them a good boost to their chances of getting out of the relegation zone.
