Crystal Palace are reportedly set to sign VfB Stuttgart midfielder Naouirou Ahamada according to Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Eagles were in talks with the German club over a potential deal for the 20-year-old midfielder.
With the January transfer deadline approaching, a big behind-the-scenes update has emerged regarding the south London club’s pursuit of the player.
In a recent Twitter post, Romano said this on the matter.
He said: “Crystal Palace are set to sign Naouirou Ahamada on €12m fee, deal set to be completed — medical tests booked.
“Ahamada has agreed on personal terms and will become new midfield signing for Patrick Vieira.”
After working his way through Juventus’ youth ranks, the midfielder initially joined Stuttgart on loan in October 2020 before becoming a permanent fixture at the club in the 2021 summer transfer window.
During his time in Germany, Ahamada made 28 senior appearances for the Bundesliga side across all competitions, chipping in with two goals and two assists in the process.
This current Bundesliga season has seen the Frenchman, who talent scout Jacek Kulig included in a list to highlight the “crazy” number of young players that France have, show how much of an impressive creative midfielder he is.

For example, with 17 league appearances to his name, Ahamada has racked up the second-highest passing accuracy (84.9%) percentage out of players at the club that have made more than one pass.
He also has the third-highest number of key passes at Stuttgart (15), highlighting his ability to create goal-scoring opportunities for his side.
With only five clubs having fewer key passes in the Premier League this season than Palace (163), it’s easy to see why Vieira has looked to bring in someone like Ahamada to help his side improve that aspect of the game.
Taking this into account, we feel that this could be an exciting move from Palace and give them a potentially very important player in their side.
