Manchester City are looking to secure a summer transfer move for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
The Manchester club have a track record when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League clubs, particularly English players such as Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, John Stones and Kalvin Phillips.
Despite the January transfer window closing recently, the Citizens have already identified another English player in the top flight they way look to sign in the summer.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, City are interested in signing Maddison in the summer and are also keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The report also adds that Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the Leicester star, who has lost more games against City (8) than any other club he’s played against in his career but has still managed to score two goals and provide one assist against them.
During his time at Leicester, the 26-year-old, who has been hailed as ‘unbelievable‘, has scored 52 goals and delivered 36 assists in 187 appearances across all competitions.
This season has seen the England international show how much of a top player he is and why he has landed himself on City’s radar for the summer.
Would you take James Maddison at Man City?
Yes
No
For example, in addition to scoring seven goals and delivering four assists in 14 appearances, Maddison’s overall performances have earned him a season rating of 7.27/10 from WhoScored, making him the 10th-highest-rated player in the division.
In addition to that, the midfielder has the highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.66) in the league, which puts him above the likes of Bukayo Saka (4.55) and Jack Grealish (4.45).
Praised for his “outstanding” performances in the past by journalist Henry Winter, it’s easy to see why Maddison reportedly had a £60m price tag put on him for the recent January transfer window.
Taking all of this into account, if City were to add the Foxes star to their ranks in the summer, this would surely give them some extra strength and depth to their squad.
