Newcastle United and Eddie Howe are set to have a busy first summer transfer window with PIF as they look to build on a strong end to the season. It now looks like tricky winger Allan Saint-Maximin is going to stay at the club for the time being.
He was initially seen as a saleable asset to the club who want to stay ahead of the spending curve to comply with FFP rules, but the Daily Mail are claiming he will be staying on Tyneside. That’s because there isn’t a club out there willing to meet Newcastle’s assessment on his worth.
The report then goes on to claim that the owners feel the French winger would benefit from another season under Eddie Howe.
Jacque Talbot has been looking at the situation, telling GiveMeSport: “I think at this point, sources have said that Saint-Maximin is going to be looking to stay at Newcastle now. I think it was a case of if an offer came in for over the top – like £55million or £60million – then I’m sure they’re definitely going to look at it. I think that’s the reason why those reports were made.”

Should Newcastle sell ASM?
Yes
No
Newcastle don’t need to raise funds to buy new players anymore, so they’ll be in no rush to sell any of their better players, so it’s no surprise to see them being resolute in their asking price, they don’t have to compromise.
Saint-Maximin has had a decent season too for the Magpies, he has had 10 goal contributions in the 35 Premier League games played. The fact he has been involved in nearly every game shows how highly he’s thought of.
