JustJoe Football Show presenter Joe Wainman reckons Leeds United turned down bids for Patrick Bamford during the transfer window.

Bamford scored 17 Premier League goals as Leeds returned to the top flight for the first time in 16 years last season.

The 27-year-old’s impressive form resulted in him being called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time in his career and he has already got off the mark this term thanks to grabbing a late equaliser at Burnley last weekend.

Is Bamford good enough for a top six club?

Bamford had been linked with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur last month as the north Londoners feared Kane would force a move to Manchester City.

However, a transfer failed to materialise and Bamford signed a new five-year deal which will keep him at Elland Road until 2026.

Former All Leeds TV anchorman Wainman believes Bamford, who joined from Middlesbrough three years ago, was the subject of offers before the transfer window slammed shut earlier this week.

To kick things off who is this?

He told TIF: “The fact we have been able to get Bamford to sign a long-term deal is great for the club.

“Angus Kinnear was on record saying we had bids for players in the tens of millions of pounds and enquiries that the club batted back. I think Patrick would have been in that.

“The fact he is dedicated to the cause and wanting to stay at Leeds is only a positive.”
