Sun football reporter Tom Barclay says Southampton target Fabio Carvalho is being monitored by a number of clubs.
TEAMtalk reported last month that Southampton were looking at a January deal for the youngster and that they have been tracking him for a number of months.
The 19-year-old started the season in great form for Fulham scoring three goals in successive games before an injury ruled him out for a while, but he returned in the club’s match against West Bromwich Albion.
Barclay confirmed that Carvalho is highly rated, and a number of clubs are monitoring him, telling This is Futbol: “So Carvalho from what I’ve heard and what I’ve briefly seen, because obviously, he started like a house on fire this season then has been injured for a couple of months, he only made his comeback against West Brom as a late sub, you know, is highly rated, is being monitored by a lot of clubs, has even been linked to Real Madrid.”
Carvalho has featured for Fulham at U18, U23 and now senior level and during his time with the youth teams at Craven Cottage he was successful in the final third of the pitch. For the U18s he scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists and when he stepped up to the U23 squad, he scored 16 goals and registered six assists.
The attacking-midfielder only has until June next year to run on his current Fulham contract and with reported interest in him, it appears that Fulham are going to have a fight on their hands to keep him at Craven Cottage.
