Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts says it would be absolutely amazing if Spurs ended up with Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij and Cristian Romero as a back three.
Romero signed for the club in the summer after being named the ‘Best Defender’ in Serie A last season and helped his former side Atalanta to a third-place finish in the league.
Since arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 23-year-old has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, including in both of new head coach Antonio Conte’s first two matches in charge of the club.
Do you think that Tottenham will sign both Skriniar and De Vrij in January?
Yes
No
Whilst the January window is still a few weeks away, the Daily Star have reported that Conte wants to raid former club Inter Milan for defensive duo Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij, and Roberts would be delighted if they both arrived and formed a back three with Romero.
“That’s what we need, so it would be absolutely amazing,” Roberts told This is Futbol.
As well as defensive reinforcements, the Daily Star report also suggests that Conte wants a midfielder and a striker in January, with Franck Kessie of AC Milan and Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina named.
Prior to the international break, Conte got to assess the side he has inherited and put his first point on the board as Spurs head coach in the Premier League as they drew 0-0 against Everton and also put three points on the board in the UEFA Europa Conference League, as they ran out 3-2 winners against Vitesse.
