According to reports from The Telegraph, former Liverpool director Damien Comolli is being lined up for a role at recently-relegated Aston Villa.
The Frenchman has worked as a director of football, a head scout and a coach at a number clubs throughout his career – including AS Monaco, Saint-Etienne, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
He hasn’t worked in English football since leaving the latter by mutual consent in April 2012 after his efforts in the transfer market came under heavy criticism.

Although the 43-year-old unearthed a gem in Luis Suarez, who almost fired Liverpool to the 2013/14 Premier League title before sealing a £75million transfer to Barcelona, the vast majority of his signings left much to be desired.
That includes the likes of £35million transfer flop Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Craig Bellamy, Doni, Sebastian Coates and Jose Enrique – none of whom are still at the Merseyside club.
According to The Telegraph, Comolli is being targeted by a Chinese consortium who are hoping to buy Aston Villa from maligned owner Randy Lerner before the start of next season.
Nigel Pearson is in line to become the Villains’ next manager but transfer matters are likely to rest with Comolli, who is expected to be offered a ‘key position’ if the Chinese takeover goes through.
