He has only made a single substitutes’ appearance for Aston Villa so far this season but Scottish giants Rangers are keen on signing Villans starlet Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, report Birmingham Mail.
The 18-year-old became Aston Villa’s youngest ever Premier League player when making his debut aged 16 and 176 days at Sunderland back in March 2015 but the teenager is currently stalling on signing a new contract.
With Hepburn-Murphy’s stalling having alerted Rangers, the interesting sub plot is the fact that the Ibrox club have been making use of a transfer loophole in which they can pick up English talent for bargain fees.
The report claims Mark Warburton’s side are able to land players aged 24 and younger for cheaper fees than what Premier League and Football League clubs would have to pay.
The tangible evidence of the law is the fact Rangers managed to land promising Liverpool academy talent Jordan Rossiter for just £250,000 in the summer and Hepburn-Murphy is the latest prodigy in their sights.
It would appear Hepburn-Murphy has a big call to make over his future with the teen having only received a five-minute cameo against Newcastle United in the Championship so far this season.
