Ian McGarry has been speaking on the latest instalment of The Transfer Window Podcast, where he revealed Manchester United are still interested in signing Harry Kane this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with several top-class strikers such as Kane and Erling Haaland in recent weeks as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempted to close the gap on Manchester City.

However, with Edinson Cavani putting pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension at Old Trafford, it would be logical to assume that United will be prioritising other positions in the upcoming window.
Nevertheless, despite the Uruguay international committing his future to the 20-time English champions, McGarry has revealed their pursuit of Kane is still ongoing.
He said: (1:21) “We’re going to start with Manchester United who have been certainly trumpeting the fact that they have managed to persuade Edinson Cavani to sign a new one-year contract extension. A player who has scored 15 goals, and in fact, eight in his last nine games and has been very impressive, he definitely has the striker’s instinct.
“It has led to people speculating that United will not look to sign another striker in the summer. However, we have checked this, and it is our information that that is not the case. And certainly not the case in the Harry Kane story, one that we have brought you exclusively on the podcast, and Kane is very much desired by Manchester United.
“They, of course, will be somewhat frightened of Daniel Levy’s £170 million asking price for his captain, and that is unrealistic in the current financial environment anyway, but it is our information that Kane is very much still on United’s radar.
“They believe that if they don’t move for him this summer, they may lose him to another club, because Kane himself is at a crossroads in his career where he feels he probably needs to leave Spurs if he’s going to win the biggest trophies in the game.”

With transfer funds expected to be limited this summer due to the financial impact of the pandemic, not just at United but all across the continent, it’s hard to imagine the hierarchy matching Daniel Levy’s asking price for Kane.
With long-term target Jadon Sancho reportedly available for just £80m this time around, a move for the 21-year-old England international would arguably make more sense given Cavani’s intention to stay.
