Martin Demichelis

According to Manchester Evening News, defender Martin Demichelis has revealed his future at Manchester City will be reviewed in the summer; whilst London24 report that highly-rated teenager Lewis Walker has completed his trial at Chelsea.

Argentina international Demichelis followed Manuel Pellegrini to the Etihad – by way of a few months at Atletico Madrid – in September 2013, having previously worked under the Chilean at Malaga.

The 34-year-old has since become a regular in the City first team, registering 64 Premier League appearances, but his contract expires at the end of the season and it remains to be seen if the experienced centre-half will be offered a new deal.

When quizzed upon his future at Eastlands, Demichelis told reporters; “Next month I turn 35 so I have been in this business for quite a long time. I have learned a lot in the past and what I have learned is that you need to live in the present, and enjoy your football.

“I am really enjoying my time here at City, playing with big players and for a club that is so ambitious, with such big objectives. We still have six or seven months of competition and then at the end of the season we will see what’s best for me and what is best for the team.”

Meanwhile, Lewis Walker – son of former England international Des Walker – has just come to the end of his week-long trial at Chelsea.

The 17-year-old currently plies his trade with Ilkeston in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League but recently caught the eye of several scouts with an impressive display in the FA Youth Cup.

It is unknown whether the teenage striker did enough to earn himself a contract at Stamford Bridge, but other top flight clubs are believed to be interested – most particularly Stoke City.

Brother Tyler Walker, also a striker, is currently on the books at Nottingham Forest and made his Championship debut last season.
