According to reports from The Express, Arsenal’s latest injury crisis could see them launch a shock bid for Manchester City winger Jesus Navas in January.

After hobbling off against Norwich City last weekend, the Gunners are hoping talismanic winger-forward Alexis Sanchez will recover from a hamstring injury in for their vital title clash with the Citizens on December 21st – but he could be out for up to six weeks.

With Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere also sidelined, Arsene Wenger is aware that he may need to sign attacking reinforcements when the transfer window reopens in January – whilst extra cover in midfield could be also required in light of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla’s layoffs.

And citing Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, The Express claim the north Londoners could turn to City wide man Jesus Navas.

The Spain international was one of Manuel Pellegrini’s first signings as Etihad boss, joining the City ranks from Sevilla in June 2013, but has plummeted down the pecking order this season following the summer arrivals of £100million duo Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne.

It’s claimed Navas, aged 30, is a huge fan of Wenger and would welcome the chance of first team football with Euro 2016 just around the corner. But whether City would actually strengthen a club many view as their biggest threat in this season’s Premier League title race, midway through the campaign, remains to be seen.
