Leeds United had a rather busy recent January transfer window in terms of the number of deals they were involved in.
As well as seeing the likes of Max Wober, Georginio Rutter and Weston McKennie join Jesse Marsch’s side, the club also saw Mateusz Klich, Cody Drameh and Joe Gelhardt make moves away from the club.
However, looking away from these deals, the Leeds hierarchy made another behind-the-scenes decision towards the end of the month that we feel will have brought relief across West Yorkshire.
It was reported on deadline day that Jack Harrison went to Leicester City to undergo a medical in preparation for a potential £20m transfer move to the east Midlands club, only for the Whites to change their mind about letting him go at the last minute.
After spending three years on loan from Manchester City, the winger eventually joined Leeds on a permanent basis back in the 2021 summer transfer window.
With 186 appearances for the Elland Road outfit to his name prior to their Premier League away match against Nottingham Forest, the Englishman has found the net 30 times and delivered 29 assists.
His endeavours in the league for Marsch’s side this season have seen Harrison, who has been hailed for his “magnificent” attacking play by journalist Josh Bunting, prove how important he is for Leeds.
For example, with 17 appearances under his belt, the winger has made more passes into the 18-yard box (20) than any of his teammates as well as having more successful dribbles (23) and the highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.71) at the club.

In addition to that, the Englishman has also made more tackles in the attacking third of the pitch (13) than any other Leeds player, showing how effective he can be off the ball as well as on it.
Taking all of this into account, we feel that Leeds definitely made the right decision in the end to not allow their £50k-per-week star to join Leicester – particularly as they are potential relegation rivals.
Moving forward, if Harrison continues to perform for his side throughout the remainder of the season and adds more goals and assists to his respective tallies, the late decision to keep hold of him may well go down as the best decision they made throughout January.
