Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss Newcastle United’s new owners and their plans for the club, insisting that the Toon will look for a new manager to head their project following their recent takeover.
On Thursday, it was announced the Tyneside club had been successfully been taken over by the Saudi Arabian-based PIF consortium, which drew a curtain on Mike Ashley’s 14-year tenure of the club.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Magpies currently is where the future of manager Steve Bruce currently lies.
Having played seven games in the Premier League already this season, the Toon go into their eighth game on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur still in search of their first win.
Bruce joined the Tyneside club back in 2019 and reports to have emerged following the takeover would suggest he does not have a future at St. James’ Park.
Speaking on rumours linking Antonio Conte with the job, Romano insisted that while the club may be looking for a coach of his calibre, the Italian has not been in touch with the Toon as of yet.
He said: “Many rumours about the manager. And it’s true that Newcastle will be looking for a new manager to build this project.
“We have many rumours on Antonio Conte because the new Newcastle ownership appreciates top managers, and Antonio Conte is a top manager.
“They think that having an important manager is key to start the new project in the right way. But as of now, Antonio Conte has not been approached yet from Newcastle, despite rumours, so he’s still waiting to see what is going to happen.”
TIF Thoughts on Bruce’s future…
Going by the reports which have emerged since the takeover was announced, it would suggest it is a matter of when Bruce is sacked rather than if.
And we think letting Bruce go will be the best decision for the new owners to make given the horrific start to the campaign they have had.
According to reports, Graeme Jones would be the man to immediately step into Bruce’s place and we think this could be a good move for the Magpies, with Jones reportedly having the respect of the Toon players.
Sunday could prove a huge game for the Toon. A win would continue the high from the takeover celebrations, however, a loss would quickly bring the side back down to earth.
