A lot of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to voice their delight with the latest claim to emerge following the club’s recent takeover.

According to The Times, Manchester City’s managing director of global football Brian Marwood could be offered a ‘senior role’ with the Tyneside club.

The report also states Amanda Staveley is now just waiting for the green light before sacking Steve Bruce from his managerial role at Newcastle.

Toon fans flocked to a tweet from NUFC 360 relaying the claims from The Times to share their absolute delight at the possibility of Marwood joining the club.

What did these Newcastle fans say?

“Very good news, investing in and redeveloping our piss poor facilities should be top of the agenda. It will also provide as an incentive for the big players to want to come to us in the future”

“Stealing people from Man City. Love it. We’ll take Pep and Foden next lads.”
“This would be some move. Brian Marwood was the man behind the research & design of Man City’s football academy – which is seen as one of the best in world football. “
“This would be amazing, he’s local and was responsible for signing Yaya Toure, David Silva, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Aleksandar Kolarov, James Milner, Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.”
“Trust the consortium. They’ve been a LONG time penetrating the impenetrable. They’ll make the Director of Football the #1 hire then go from there. This is a process people. Stay up then HOWAY THE LADS.”
“CEO position maybe?”

Reports also suggest the Magpies are looking to bring a director of football into the club as part of the expected restructure following last week’s takeover.

Even though this may not be one of the mega-money signings some fans may be hoping for, it is apparent these fans would love to see Marwood appointed at St. James’ Park.
