Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a Twitter post from @LastWordOnSpurs which shared a report from Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias regarding the future of Gedson Fernandes.
The 21-year-old midfielder is currently on loan to the Lilywhites from Benfica, but his lack of game time has prompted a discussion amongst supporters on whether or not his loan spell in north London will be cut short, with Jose Mourinho previously indicating that Fernandes’ contract could be terminated early – but indicated in his most recent press conference that he was unsure what will happen with regards to his immediate future.
He is yet to feature in the Premier League for Mourinho’s side this season (as per Transfermarkt) and since his arrival last January, he has been limited to just 13 appearances for Spurs.
How have these Spurs fans reacted to the speculation regarding Gedson Fernandes’ future?
Get him off our wages

Never good enough, never will be. Just glad we didn’t buy him, so we aren’t stuck with a player on the wage bill we couldn’t get shot of.

Bye. The wrong Fernandes

It’s clear from the above responses that in the event Fernandes’ loan spell is cut short, these Spurs fans won’t be too disappointed, with one even claiming the club signed the ‘wrong Fernandes’, with reference to the Manchester United midfielder who was previously linked with a move to north London and has impressed since coming to England.
