Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter surrounding rivals Manchester City and their invitation of UEFA president Aleksander Cerefin to the club.
This comes after journalist Sam Lee shared a post on his official Twitter page that included an article from The Athletic by Matt Slater who revealed that Cerefin would be City’s guest of honour for their midweek Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.
This post from Lee then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to suggest that City were trying to bribe the UEFA president.
Who will win the Champions League this season?
Liverpool
Manchester City

And maybe he got a lil money and a new house. So nice of City to do that!

This all stems from City’s recent issues with UEFA including a potential European ban being laid upon the Manchester club for financial complications.
The invitation to Cerefin acted as a peace offering between City and UEFA so all issues could be put to bed.
Here’s what another couple of fans had to say:
Good to see that FFP is officially a joke.

What do we think?
Whatever the City board decide to do in regards to UEFA is their business. In the same way, it is their business to invite whoever they want to watch their matches. For some Liverpool fans to assume this invitation to Cerefin was an effort by the City board to bribe the UEFA boss to help them out in the Champions League is unlikely.
