West Ham Fan TV’s Dan Lawless has urged the Hammers board to sack manager David Moyes as his side slumped to another defeat.
Even before the break for the World Cup, Moyes was under pressure amid some poor performances from his team. No doubt, the 59-year-old would have been hoping to use the winter pause in the Premier League to help turn things around.
Worryingly, though, West Ham have lost their first two games since returning to league action. A defeat against Arsenal on Boxing Day away from home may have been more forgivable with the Gunners are top of the league – but losing 2-0 at home against Brentford is rather damning.
Indeed, it certainly seems to be the final straw for some, with Lawless stating that the board simply cannot allow Moyes to stay on as manager.
TIF Thoughts on West Ham United…
After the defeat, West Ham sit only one point above the bottom three having played one game more than the three teams below them in the league table.
Interestingly enough, when Pellegrini was sacked back in 2019, his side were also 17th – and just one point above the Premier League relegation zone on that occasion, too.
With that in mind, it certainly wouldn’t be a shock if Moyes was to go in the very near future. The manager even seemed to accept as much when speaking to the press after the Brentford defeat.
Indeed, he told the press: “I don’t think it’s unfair because the business we’re in means that if you go five games when you’ve not won, then you could always be under pressure, I totally get that.”
