Some Celtic fans have been talking about how the side doesn’t play the same in the absence of veteran midfielder Scott Brown.

Brown didn’t start for the Hoops in their recent 3-1 win over Kilmarnock in the Premiership. Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie started in midfield, with Brown and Olivier Ntcham not even on the bench.

Hoops-related page CelticGossip, posted about the side missing Brown in midfield. It got many Hoops fans talking and most agreed that Celtic were missing Brown on the pitch.

So far this season, Brown has made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops and 27 of them have come in the Premiership. He has two Premiership goals to his name and they came against Hamilton and Livingston earlier in the campaign.

What do we think?

In the whole campaign, Brown, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt),  has played over 4,000 minutes in all competitions and that is the second-highest tally behind Callum McGregor. It shows that Brown was perhaps in need of a rest as he’s played a lot of first-team football – which may have contributed to his early withdrawal in midweek.

It seems that while he is approaching the end of his career, the majority of fans still regard him as a critical part of Celtic’s midfield.
