Lots of Newcastle United fans have been discussing Jonjo Shelvey’s performance in the North East club’s latest Premier League fixture versus Southampton.

The 28-year-old started this game in central midfield alongside Jeff Hendrick. Per ChronicleLive, the midfielder’s game didn’t get off to a great start, as he notably played a ‘very poor’ pass in just the first minute.

He didn’t start the second half any better, as he missed a ‘sitter’ just after play resumed and with all of this in mind, it may be somewhat understandable why plenty of Newcastle fans have been showing frustration with the ex-Liverpool man.

So, what have these Newcastle United fans been saying about Shelvey?

Many Newcastle fans have been hammering the £13.05m-rated man, who captained Steve Bruce’s side for this one, with those Toon fans indicating that they think the 28-year-old is simply not good enough.

All in all, it’s clear from these Toon fans’ tweets that many Newcastle supporters expect better from the Englishman, who earns £70k-per-week at St. James’ Park, making him third-highest-earning player at the club, per Spotrac.

The Magpies may have won, but Shelvey was hugely under par in the heart of midfield as he made only 70% passes, lost 50% of his duels and failed to provide a single accurate cross. via SofaScore.
