Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that wonderkid Reuben McAllister would be a “big signing” for Celtic this summer.
After becoming a prominent figure in the Bristol City U23s setup at the tender age of 16, McAllister is on his way to big things in the game with the youngster attracting a number of interest from clubs across the UK.
The Sun reports that the young attacking midfielder is wanted by Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Rangers and Celtic who are all reportedly tracking his progress, while Football Insider claim that both Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion are also weighing up moves for the teenager.
And O’Rourke has stated that it would be huge for the Scottish champions to fend off competition from the English top flight as Postecoglu aims to build for the future.
He told GIVEMESPORT:
“McAllister is a very young player and I don’t think he would be somebody for the first team right now.
“But, obviously, he is a talented young midfielder and I think quite a few clubs – even in the Premier League – are looking at him right now.
“He is somebody with huge potential ahead of him as well and if Celtic were able to win the race for his services, that would be a big signing for the club.”
TIF thoughts on McAllister move…
It would be a major coup for Celtic to beat Premier League clubs to the signature of the Bristol City wonderkid considering the kind of pull clubs from England have on youngsters due to their decorated academy setups.
Indeed, clubs such as Leicester City, Brighton, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are clubs in which young stars could have the required environment, facilities and room to develop as they come through the ranks, and these are clubs in which McAllister could well be swayed by if he is to take a decision on his immediate future.
However, with the squad Postecoglu is building at Parkhead and the riches they possess in their academy, it is an option the 16 year-old prized asset should seriously consider.
