Liverpool are interested in young starlet Joel Ribeiro, according to Caliomercato.
Ribeiro is a Switzerland Under-16 international and is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Liverpool will face stiff competition from Inter Millan, Atalanta and Torino in the race to sign the Lausanne midfielder.
The 16-year-old does not yet have a professional contract.
Good move for Liverpool?
This signing would ultimately be for the future. Ribeiro is only 16-years-old and will not be playing in the first-team for a good amount of time. With other big clubs expressing an interest, Liverpool will have to move fast if they are to secure his services. The Reds have had numerous players come through the academy in recent times and Trent Alexander-Arnold is a prime example. Ribeiro may realise that his chances of progressing with Liverpool are high – this could give him a reason to choose the Reds.

Likely to happen?
Given that the young starlet is yet to sign a professional deal, he is up for grabs. Liverpool are better than they have been in a long time and will attract the very best as a result, let alone young players wanting to carve out a career. There are other options available for the youngster and this is something Liverpool must be aware of. This potential move is not one which will catch the eye straight away and clubs may not be in a rush to make moves. This doesn’t really impact first-team football and as a result, may not be a big priority right now.
