Some West Brom fans were full of praise for Matheus Pereira following his impressive playmaking performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw versus Nottingham Forest.
West Brom could only earn a point from their home game versus fifth-placed play-off hopefuls Forest this past weekend. Their failure to win Saturday’s game saw West Brom’s lead at the top of the Championship table decrease from six to four points as their closest rivals Leeds United earned a 1-0 win versus Bristol City.
One positive for West Brom fans to take from Saturday’s Championship fixture was the positive playmaking performance of Matheus Pereira. Pereira has been one of the Championship’s most highly-rated players this season. His average Whoscored.com rating for the Championship season currently sits at 7.40. This is currently second only to Eberechi Eze of Queens Park Rangers of those with over 15 league appearances.
The Brazilian playmaker assisted Callum Robinson’s goal in Saturday’s game. Furthermore, the 23-year-old attempted a total of three shots and two dribbles at the weekend.
Will Matheus Pereira end the season with the highest assist total in the Championship?
YES, PEREIRA IS THE CHAMPIONSHIP'S BEST PLAYMAKER
NO, OTHER PLAYERS WILL EARN MORE ASSISTS THAN PEREIRA THIS SEASON
West Brom fans took to social media to show appreciation for Pereira’s most recent performance. Read some of the positive messages for the Brazilian’s display in the tweets below.
Today we didn't have a good result, but we will never give up! Keep going ???? @wba

What do we think?
The name “assist king” may be an appropriate one for Pereira to take up following his impressive playmaking displays this season. Pereira’s assist this past weekend was his 12th assist in his 29 Championship appearances in the 2019/20 campaign. This is the joint-highest amount of assists that any Championship player has accumulated this season.
Evidently, the 23-year-old’s playmaking efforts have been fruitful this year and have played a pivotal role in the league leaders’ impressive campaign thus far.
