Dan Cook believes that Wilfried Zaha leaving Crystal Palace for Paris Saint-Germain could be a logical move for the winger.
It has been well-reported that Zaha has no intention to remain with Palace beyond his current contract, which is set to expire in a matter of months when the current season comes to an end.
Zaha has been linked with several clubs over the last few months including Newcastle United and Roma, but Cook believes that the winger could be set for even dizzier heights by landing a move to Ligue 1 champions PSG – who have been linked with an interest in the Ivorian.
Cook claimed on the HLTCO podcast that the move just makes sense for Zaha when he becomes a free agent next summer.
He said: “Obviously, from my point of view, it would be far better if he was to leave us for a club that doesn’t come up against us in Premier League action from week to week, but he does have a family to think about.
Would Zaha be good enough for PSG?
Yes!
No!
“The locality to south London is something that is likely to be quite serious to him. With that in mind, Paris seems like the most obvious destination for him from my perspective, but maybe I’m being a little bit too rose-tinted, there.”
TIF Thoughts on Zaha’s future…
It would be a huge step up in the career of Zaha to go from mid-table mediocrity with Palace to challenging for the league title in France and being part of a club desperate to win the Champions League.
Given he would be a free agent and not demand a transfer fee, it would make sense for PSG to cut back their spending, save some money and bring in Zaha, who would not likely go into the club demanding to start every week.
It’s been reported in the past that Zaha wishes to play European football, and now at a later point in his career, that won’t have likely changed, so a move to a European giant as a free agent could be very appealing.
