While West Ham United fans will be interested in ready-made replacements, the Hammers have joined Arsenal in the race to land Velez Sarsfield wonderkid Naza Bazan Vera, report The Sun.
According to the publication, Slaven Bilic’s side are now willing to battle the likes of the Gunners, Chelsea and Liverpool to sign the 17-year-old Argentine striker who has already been compared to Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.
One of the interesting facets of this particular transfer battle is the fact Bazan Vera already boasts a European passport, crucially meaning that any swoop wouldn’t be held up by work permit complications.
Already adept at nurturing talent from South America, Spanish side Villarreal have also been credited with an interest in Bazan Vera and it would appear the teenager has no shortage of suitors at this early stage in his career.
The Sun’s report also claims that despite being 17-years-old, Bazan Vera is already being earmarked for a call-up to the Argentine Under-20 squad; a roster that included Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa only a year ago.
