It was a very familiar season for Southampton, with a number of key stars leaving St Mary’s Stadium in search of pastures new.
Sadio Mane was, undoubtedly, the most high-profile departure – with the Senegalese international moving on to Liverpool. Other notable absentees include the likes of Wanyama and Pelle – both of whom were key for Koeman last season.
However, as with every season prior – players often make the step up to replace their departed teammates – and this year is no different.
There are a fair few Southampton players that are absolutely essential to Puel’s cause – and he needs to utilise them.
