Thomas Rooney of Footballtips.com is back with his three bets to back in the Premier League this weekend.
These weekends are coming round quickly aren’t they? Come to think of it, so is the end of the football season. Just a few precious weeks to go and boy is there plenty to play for.
Not least – the title race. Who’s going to be celebrating in May? Man City and Arsenal have been called ‘the team to beat’ at various times, now it’s over to Chelsea who are seven points clear.
I wrote a piece on the site earlier this week about wanting Liverpool to go all the way though. Essentially, what’s not to like?
Brendan Rodgers has his team playing fantastic football, they have a nucleus of strong English players and if they did become Champions, I’m pretty sure we’d be set for the best finale ever!
Anyway, on with the tips…
Alvaro Negredo to score first
The lunch-time kick-off between Hull and Manchester City presents the visitors with a chance to bounce back from a terrible week. City crashed out of the FA Cup and Champions League.
Now for their season to be a success, they simply have to win the Premier League. It’s their only focus now and it starts on Saturday at the KC Stadium.
Stopping short of backing them to win – although they probably will – I’m looking at the first goalscorer market. In the absence of Sergio Aguero, it’s time Alvaro Negredo stepped up.
The Beast has been tamed in recent weeks, but after missing out on a starting berth at the weekend, he will be fired up. Get 9/2 with Paddy Power for him to break the deadlock.
Over 2.5 goals at Villa Park
Saturday Night Football sees Chelsea travel to Aston Villa and I’m expecting an entertaining contest. Villa tend to raise their game against the top sides and what have they to gain from sitting back?
League leaders Chelsea should be fresh after no midweek game and will, as ever, have significant attacking threat.
This fixture has traditionally had goals too. It was a 2-1 win for the Blues last season and a 4-2 success the year before. Don’t forget they put eight past Villa at Stamford Bridge recently too.
Over 2.5 goals at Evens with Bet Victor is a must this weekend.
Man Utd / Arsenal double
Super Sunday is spoiling us this weekend. First, there is Manchester United at home to Liverpool, then Arsenal travel to Tottenham. I’m backing a Red Devils and Gunners double.
It’s been a miserable season for United, but they can have arguably their best day yet at Old Trafford. Liverpool are a good side, but perhaps they come unstuck in this one.
Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Juan Mata will all be fired up and let’s hope for the home side’s sake David Moyes sticks with the side that won at West Brom.
As for Arsenal, I genuinely believe they will be far too strong for Tottenham. The atmosphere will be edgy from the off after the week Spurs have had and it won’t be long until Arsenal storm it.
